Intellias is hiring a senior backend engineer to design, develop, and operate scalable Spring Boot microservices in a distributed architecture. You will build event-driven data pipelines, optimize complex datasets, and collaborate with data teams across a cloud-first environment on AWS.

The role requires strong English skills, ownership, and ability to work with cross-functional teams. You will work remotely from Spain with an international team, overlapping US Central Time on business days, and

• 6+ years designing backend services and distributed systems in production using Java 21, Spring Boot 3.x, Docker.
• Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience with AWS core services and cloud-native development.
• Experience parsing and ingesting various file types (large media files).
• Experience designing and operating event-driven distributed systems (Kafka, AWS Kinesis).
• Strong experience with microservices, MVC, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong experience with JPA / Hibernate; PostgreSQL and DynamoDB schemas and optimization.
• Solid test automation with JUnit and Cucumber; GitHub Actions CI/CD.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment with strong English communication.
• 6 hours overlap with US Central Time on business days.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Spring Boot-based microservices in a distributed architecture.
• Build and operate event-driven data processing pipelines for streaming data.
• Work with complex datasets focusing on analysis, transformation, validation, and optimization.
• Develop and maintain advanced SQL queries and data workflows for business needs.
• Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and stakeholders to solve data challenges.
• Contribute to Snowflake-based data warehousing initiatives where applicable.
• Develop and maintain robust internal/external APIs.
• Work with AWS services to design reliable backend systems.
• Design PostgreSQL and DynamoDB schemas for performance and integrity.
• Implement automated testing strategies (unit and integration).
• Maintain GitHub Actions pipelines for CI/CD.
• Ensure system reliability with monitoring and observability best practices.
• Collaborate in a distributed team and communicate progress, risks, dependencies.
• Own features end-to-end from design to production support.

Location: Remote from Spain (an indefinite Spanish employment contract)

Intellias is partnering with a Fortune 100, Midwest-based industrial manufacturer to modernize and expand a suite of cloud-based services and data products used by a global network of dealers, enterprise customers, and internal business units. Our cross-functional teams deliver scalable APIs, event-driven services, and analytics pipelines that power quoting, ordering, asset telemetry, diagnostics, and lifecycle support for heavy equipment in the field

Requirements:

Mandatory

• 6+ years of experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining backend services and distributed systems in production using Java 21, Spring Boot 3.x, Docker
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with AWS core services and cloud-native application development.
• Experience parsing and ingesting various file types (large media files, etc.)
• Strong experience designing and operating event-driven distributed systems using technologies such as Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or equivalent messaging platforms.
• Strong experience with microservices, MVC, and event-driven architectures
• Strong experience with JPA / Hibernate
• Strong database design skills with PostgreSQL (advanced SQL) and DynamoDB, including schema design, optimization, and performance tuning
• Solid test automation experience using JUnit and Cucumber
• Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions and/or similar CI/CD tools
• Strong ownership and self-management in a fast-paced Agile environment, with the ability to independently deliver end-to-end solutions, resolve blockers, and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to provide 6 hours overlap with US Central Time (CT) on business days (till 2 pm CT latest)

• Advanced SQL expertise, including designing, writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex analytical queries against large and complex datasets.
• Experience processing, enriching, or analyzing event and telemetry data at scale.
• Experience with AWS CloudFormation.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Spring Boot-based microservices in a distributed architecture
• Build and operate event-driven data processing pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, and enrichment of streaming data
• Work extensively with complex datasets, focusing on data analysis, transformation, validation, and optimization
• Develop and maintain advanced SQL queries and data workflows to support business and platform requirements
• Collaborate closely with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to understand and solve complex data challenges
• Contribute to data warehousing and analytics initiatives, including Snowflake-based solutions where applicable
• Develop and maintain robust APIs for internal and external consumers
• Work with AWS cloud services to design and support reliable, scalable backend systems
• Design, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL and DynamoDB schemas, ensuring performance and data integrity
• Implement and maintain automated testing strategies (unit and integration)
• Contribute to and maintain GitHub Actions pipelines
• Ensure system reliability through monitoring, logging, and observability best practices
• Collaborate effectively in a distributed team, communicating progress, risks, and dependencies
• Take ownership of features end-to-end, from design through deployment and production support
