Nabu Casa seeks a Senior ICT Technician to own internal IT for a fully remote, globally distributed team. You will ensure secure, reliable computers, accounts and tools, while collaborating with Cloud engineering to keep the server landscape safe and well maintained.

You will automate provisioning and offboarding with Ansible and scripting, manage internal tools, and uphold security baselines across macOS, Windows and Linux. English communication is essential.

Qualifications

Several years of experience in IT administration or systems administration.
Hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation.
Strong Linux administration skills, including firewall configuration.
Experience supporting users across macOS, Windows and Linux.
Experience administering Google Workspace, SSO, MFA and password management tools.
Solid understanding of endpoint and identity security.
Scripting skills for automation, for example Bash or Python.
Clear written communication in English and the patience to help colleagues with different levels of technical knowledge.
The ability to work independently, prioritise and stay calm when things go wrong.

Responsibilities

Help colleagues set up their computers, make sure devices follow our security policy, and solve day-to-day IT issues across macOS, Windows and Linux.
Run identity and access: Google Workspace, SSO, MFA and password management, so people have the right access on day one and lose it on their last day.
Maintain the internal systems and software we provide to our employees.
Secure and maintain our server landscape together with the Cloud engineering team, including Linux administration and firewall configuration.
Automate provisioning, configuration, patching and offboarding with Ansible and scripting.
Own the configuration, licences and costs of our internal tools, such as Slack, Google Workspace and Jira.
Define and maintain our internal security baseline, run access reviews, and keep us aligned with GDPR and relevant security frameworks.
Respond to internal security incidents and lead the follow-up.
Document our systems, runbooks and self-service guides in the handbook, so colleagues can solve common issues themselves.

Nabu Casa is the organisation behind Home Assistant, the world's largest free and open-source smart home platform used by over two million households. Nabu Casa was established in 2018 by the founders and core contributors of Home Assistant, with the intent of making the project sustainable and to prevent burnout. The Role

We are looking for a Senior ICT Technician to own internal IT at Nabu Casa. You will make sure our people, spread across the world and working on macOS, Windows and Linux, have secure, reliable computers, accounts and tools, and you will work with our Cloud engineering team to keep our server landscape secure and well maintained. You will be our only IT specialist, so automation and good documentation will be your best friends.

What You Need To Have

Several years of experience in IT administration or systems administration, ideally supporting a remote or distributed team.
Hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation.
Strong Linux administration skills, including firewall configuration.
Experience supporting users across macOS, Windows and Linux.
Experience administering Google Workspace, SSO, MFA and password management tools.
Solid understanding of endpoint and identity security.
Scripting skills for automation, for example Bash or Python.
Clear written communication in English and the patience to help colleagues with different levels of technical knowledge.
The ability to work independently, prioritise and stay calm when things go wrong.

It would be great if you also have:

Experience with infrastructure as code and orchestration tools such as Terraform or Nomad.
Working knowledge of GDPR and security frameworks.
Experience managing SaaS vendors, licences and renewals.
Experience with device management (MDM) tools.
Familiarity with Home Assistant or the open-source smart home world.

What we offer You

Nabu Casa is a fully remote organization that uses Remote to employ people from all over the world. You will be a normal salaried employee in your country.

This is a full-time position for 40 hours per week. Because we are a fully remote company, there is no fixed schedule. For the purpose of team communication, we do try to ensure at least 3 hours of overlap in the workday. our CFO based in Switzerland.

Other countries: Compensation can be discussed during the first interview.

These figures may be adjusted based on experience, qualifications, and work hours.
