Job summary

Utopia is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to own accounting and financial controls across multiple entities and jurisdictions. You will design and implement processes from the ground up, ensure IFRS compliance, and lead monthly reporting while coordinating with external auditors and senior leadership.

You will thrive in a fast-paced, remote-ready environment, managing external consultants and legal advisors to keep filings on track, with English fluency as a core requirement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial control, or treasury, including IFRS.
• Hands-on experience building financial controlling processes from the ground up.
• Deep technical knowledge of accounting principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Able to manage external consultants and legal advisors effectively.
• Fluent English.

• Design, implement, and continuously improve internal financial control procedures.

About The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of financial controlling from the ground up, as Utopia operates across multiple entities and jurisdictions. You'll build financial processes on new projects, ensure the accuracy of accounting operations, and own timely reporting and financial controls across the business.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial control, or treasury, including IFRS.
• Proven, hands-on experience building financial controlling processes from the ground up — not just maintaining existing ones.
• Deep technical knowledge of accounting principles, beyond operational execution.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fast learner, comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, and often ambiguous environment.
• Able to manage external consultants and legal advisors effectively.
• Fluent English.

Nice To Have

• Big 4 experience.
• ACCA (professional level papers completed or near-completed).
• Russian — upper-intermediate or higher.
