Role : Senior Engineering Manager (Grid)

Location : Madrid, Spain (Hybrid)

This organisation is a leading European specialist in the development, construction, and operation of large-scale solar power plants. With more than a decade of experience and several gigawatts of installed capacity, it provides end-to-end services from initial project design through to long-term maintenance and performance optimisation. Operating across multiple international markets, the company is recognised for its engineering expertise, strong safety record, and commitment to renewable energy innovation. Its focus is on delivering reliable, cost-efficient solar solutions that support the transition to a more sustainable energy future.

My client is a fast-growing leader in the renewable energy industry and is significantly investing in the expansion of its Spanish operations. They are now looking to bring on a Senior Engineering Manager to help drive technical excellence and team development.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the design of utility-scale photovoltaic systems
• Supervise and guide both internal engineering teams and external engineering consultants
• Analyse customer technical requirements and ensure compliance with project specifications
• Prepare or review technical documentation to support procurement and detailed design activities
• Ensure effective collaboration across local teams to meet deadlines, technical targets, and budget expectations
• Provide technical support throughout budgeting, construction, and operational phases
• Support the selection of optimal photovoltaic technologies (modules, inverters, structures, storage systems, etc.)
• Work to maximise plant performance, improve efficiency, and reduce lifecycle costs
• Monitor project progress from concept through implementation
• Collaborate closely with procurement, commercial, and legal departments

Candidate Profile

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable qualification
• Registered on the Engineers Register (Sezione A) with full signing authority
• Several years’ professional experience as a senior engineer in construction, technical consultancy, or related sectors
• Strong knowledge of LV / MV electrical design for utility-scale PV systems and relevant electrical standards (e.g., CEI 0-16)
• Experience managing grid connection processes and engaging with TSO / DNO stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Desirable

• Proficient in electrical design software (AutoCAD, Amper, PVSyst, PVCase, Proled, etc.)
• Good working knowledge of MS Office
• Fluent in Italian and English
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and time-management skills
