Job summary

GTD Group is seeking a Senior Engineer for Ground Segment Development to join GTD Sistemas de Información. You will help design, integrate and configure mission control centers for European spacecraft using the EGS-CC architecture.

You will lead software development within the Java/OSGi framework, develop adapters and extensions, and ensure rigorous verification, testing and documentation across the project lifecycle, coordinating with ESA and industry partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in system integration for ground segment or similar critical software.
• Proficiency with Java/OSGi framework and modular architectures.
• Knowledge of data modeling and domain modeling in space systems.
• Experience with validation, FAT/SAT, and end-to-end testing processes.
• Ability to prepare and maintain design docs and ICDs.

Responsibilities

• System Integration & Configuration: Integrate, configure and customize EGS-CC components for ground control systems.
• Software Development & Extension: Develop adapters and extensions within Java/OSGi to fit mission needs.
• Data Modelling: Define and maintain mission DB models using CDM and EMF.
• Verification & Testing: Perform FAT, SAT and end-to-end validation of mission control systems.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare ICDs, test plans and procedures following space software guidelines.
• Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Provide guidance on EGS-CC standards to junior engineers and liaise with ESA/consortium stakeholders.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer for Ground Segment Development to join our Celeres department at GTD Sistemas de Información, the company of GTD Group specialized in the design and development of large, complex and safety-critical applications.

You will join the team responsible for developing a mission control centre for the monitoring and control of a European spacecraft. You will contribute to the design, integration and configuration of space mission control and data preparation systems based on the EGS-CC (European Ground Systems – Common Core) architecture.

Position activities:

• Your main responsibilities will include:

  • System Integration & Configuration: Integrate, configure and customize EGS-CC components to develop mission-specific ground control systems (EGSE/MCS).

  • Software Development & Extension: Develop custom adapters, plugins and extensions within the Java/OSGi framework to adapt EGS-CC functionalities to specific space mission requirements.

  • Data Modelling: Define, validate and maintain mission database models using the EGS-CC Conceptual Data Model (CDM) and Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF).

  • Verification & Testing: Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and end-to-end validation of mission control systems.

  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain design documentation, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), test plans and procedures in accordance with space software engineering guidelines.

  • Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Act as a subject matter expert on EGS-CC standards and technologies, providing technical guidance to junior engineers and collaborating with ESA and industry consortium stakeholders.
