Job summary

Zurich Insurance Group, through its Technology Delivery Center in Barcelona, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and deploy end-to-end data and AI solutions in the cloud. You will own scalable data pipelines, implement high-performance ETL/ELT in AWS or Azure, and industrialise ML/AI with robust MLOps practices.

You will collaborate with actuaries, data scientists, product owners, and business SMEs to deliver practical AI-driven solutions that enhance underwriting, pricing, and claims

Qualifications

• Python: 5–10 years building production-grade data and backend solutions.
• Cloud Engineering: 5 years on AWS or Azure, data-intensive environments.
• Databricks: 5–10 years experience with this Cloud data/AI platform.
• CI/CD & DevOps: 5 years designing multi-cloud pipelines and automated deployments.
• Microservices: 5 years designing/operating distributed services and APIs.
• Agentic AI / LLMs: 2 years integrating AI/LLMs into real applications.
• Backend Engineering: 2 years building/operating APIs and end-to-end backend services.
• Nice to have: Insurance/financial services exposure.

Responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end Data and AI solutions in the cloud.
• Own data processing at scale in AWS or Azure with Spark/Databricks.
• Industrialise ML/AI with MLOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop and operate cloud-native microservices and APIs.
• Define MLOps strategies for model lifecycle management.
• Bridge business and tech by translating requirements into architectures.
• Build AI-powered products with LLMs, including RAG workflows.
