Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Senior Data Centre Design Manager to lead designs for AWS Data Centres in the Europe, Middle East & Africa geography, collaborating with Architects, Engineers, and Designers to ensure safe, scalable facilities.

You will drive project documentation, budgets, and timelines, coordinating internal teams and external consultants while maintaining compliance with regional codes and standards. Travel may reach 25% for site assessments and reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
• Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.

Responsibilities

• Communicate conceptual designs and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction;
• Creating and tracking metrics related to cost, quality and duration of design as well as collecting data from construction and commissioning teams as designs are implemented. Establishing capital project design budgets and contributing to complex business cases for existing region and new region deployment. Collaborating with AWS finance teams to secure funding for projects;
• Working in partnership with AWS Engineering leads to schedule engineering resources and influence design changes based on internal customer needs;
• Partnering with internal customers to establish project scope, schedule and deliverables. Create, review, and release design RFPs. Manage our external design consultants through the design and construction process. Coordinate with internal and external Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Cabling design engineers;
• Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs and schedule without negative impacts on quality or reliability. Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%;

• Complete after-action reviews and identify opportunities for process improvement.
