Liberty Specialty Markets in Madrid is seeking a Senior Compensation Analyst to lead European compensation across 10 countries, partnering with HR Business Partners to ensure fair, compliant reward practices and support talent strategy.

You will drive benchmarking and market pricing, support annual pay reviews, and coordinate pay transparency initiatives, enabling attraction, retention and engagement across Europe in an international, English-speaking environment.

Formación

  • Experience in a Reward or Compensation function across multiple European countries.
  • Knowledge of EU Pay Transparency Directive and related requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and influencing abilities with senior stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Excel and data modelling for large datasets.

As a Senior Compensation Analyst, you act as the key contact for European compensation matters across 10 countries, supporting the Regional Senior Compensation Manager and local HR Business Partners to administer compensation initiatives, maintain compliance with pay transparency requirements and support talent attraction, retention and engagement.

About the Department & Team

The Compensation team is responsible for designing, managing and implementing compensation policies and programmes, ensuring Liberty’s legal entities remain compliant with legal and regulatory requirements. The team you’ll be a part of manages Compensation for the UK, MENA & Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary Compensation contact for our locations across Europe (10 countries), providing guidance to HR Business Partners and People Leaders across the region
  • Lead benchmarking and market pricing activity for European roles, ensuring packages remain externally competitive and internally equitable
  • Provide compensation recommendations for recruitment and role changes, applying sound judgement within established frameworks and escalating exceptions where appropriate
EU Pay Transparency Directive
  • Develop and maintain strong working knowledge of the EU Pay Transparency Directive, tracking regulatory developments and translating requirements into actionable policies and processes
  • Coordinate reporting and disclosure requirements in applicable EU jurisdictions
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance and HR teams to ensure readiness for forthcoming obligations, including pay gap reporting, right to information requests and salary range disclosures
Annual Pay Review Process
  • Play a key role in the annual pay review cycle for our UK, MENA and European populations, including managing promotions and short and long-term incentive schemes
  • Support with communications, project planning and project execution, with guidance from the Senior Compensation Manager as required
  • Partner with global Compensation colleagues to align to the global frameworks, timelines and governance requirements
  • Prepare and validate Payroll reports, HRIS system uploads and validate data for accuracy at multiple stages during the review process.
Projects / Other
  • Develop strong working relationships with HR Business Partners, Recruitment, HR Operations, Payroll & the wider Reward Team to work effectively and collaboratively together as a HR function, on all compensation related matters
  • Support the global job architecture programme via job evaluations and the roll-out and maintenance of a consistent job catalogue across regions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and support implementation of agreed enhancements, to support our high performance culture
  • Explore and champion the use of AI and automation tools to enhance the efficiency and quality of compensation tasks, analysis and reporting
  • Manage and respond to queries across the shared team mailbox, maintaining a high standard of accuracy and service
  • Provide analytical support for gender pay gap reporting, pay equity analyses and other statutory or voluntary reporting requirements
  • Mentor and support junior members of the Reward team, sharing technical knowledge, providing guidance on day-to-day queries, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning
  • Act as an escalation point and sounding board for the Compensation Analyst aligned to your region

Skills and Experience
  • Experience in a Reward or Compensation function, ideally within a large matrix organisation operating across multiple European countries
  • Preferably expertise in European compensation, including an understanding of local market norms, collective bargaining frameworks and employment legislation across EU jurisdictions
  • Strong knowledge of or direct experience with the EU Pay Transparency Directive and its practical implications for employers
  • Benchmarking and job evaluation experience; proficiency with the WTW global grading methodology and Aon market surveys
  • Advanced Excel skills: complex formulae (V-lookup, Index/Match, SUMIFS, nested IFs), pivot tables, large data set manipulation and modelling
  • Proven ability to work independently and proactively, managing multiple priorities without close supervision
  • A process improvement mindset — track record of identifying inefficiencies and implementing better ways of working
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) — this is an international role and all team communication is conducted in English
  • Exceptional analytical ability and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex data and recommendations persuasively to senior stakeholders
