Job summary

Empresaconfidencial is seeking an experienced Senior Bioprocess & Scale-up Engineer to transition pilot-scale fermentation (200 L) to its first full-scale plant in Spain. You will lead process design, equipment selection, and supplier management to deliver a robust, cost-effective industrial facility with robust safety and quality standards.

The role requires strong project management, cross-functional collaboration with R&D and management, and fluency in English and Spanish.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology or related field.
• Significant experience in industrial process engineering, preferably in fermentation, biotechnology, food, pharmaceutical or chemical industries.
• Experience in industrial plant design, construction, commissioning or scale-up projects.
• Experience with EPC contractors and equipment suppliers is desirable.
• Proven experience in fermentation and scale-up, including design, equipment selection and commissioning.
• Knowledge of CAPEX/OPEX optimization and process economics.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Lead scale-up from pilot to industrial production.
• Define plant requirements, process flow, equipment specs and layouts.
• Evaluate equipment suppliers and EPC contractors.
• Oversee installation, commissioning and start-up.
• Optimize performance to reduce costs and risk.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs and mass/energy balances.
• Collaborate with R&D, management and partners.
• Ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
