Proton is seeking a senior backend engineer to build features across Proton's products, with strong emphasis on scalable, high-performance systems. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams globally, and contribute to secure, robust API design while driving performance optimization.

Based in Barcelona or willing to work in-person, you will join the Payments team and influence technology choices, architecture, and delivery for a fast-growing privacy-focused company.

Formación

• Proven experience with backend development.
• Expertise in scalable, high-performance solutions.
• Profiling techniques and performance optimization tools.
• Experience leading a team initiative from discovery to production.
• Strong SQL and data modelling knowledge (MySQL preferred).
• Familiarity with Redis or other caching technologies.
• Knowledge of security best practices in software design.
• Understanding of HTTP/REST APIs development and consumption.
• Cryptographic concepts including key exchange and encryption types.
• Bonus: experience in the payments domain.
