Proton in Barcelona is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to help maintain, improve and consolidate our data pipelines and take our data platform to the next level.

You will design, build, and operate reliable, scalable data pipelines for analytics and product insights, work with large batch and streaming workloads, and collaborate with engineering, product, analytics and data science teams to turn complex needs into pragmatic technical solutions.

Formación

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data platform engineering, backend engineering, distributed systems, or a closely related field.
• Strong software engineering skills with knowledge of Scala and/or Java, plus solid Python experience.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, fault tolerance, and data platform operations.
• Experience designing, building, and operating data pipelines in production environments (batch/streaming).
• Experience with Apache Spark is highly recommended for large-scale processing.
• Strong SQL, data modeling, and data access pattern knowledge.
• Knowledge of data warehouse and lakehouse practices (partitioning, schema evolution, observability).
• Ability to drive technical initiatives end-to-end and collaborate across teams.

Responsabilidades

• Drive end-to-end data engineering and data platform initiatives from design to ownership.
• Design, build, and operate reliable, scalable data pipelines for analytics and reporting.
• Work with large-scale batch and streaming data processing systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, analytics, data science, and business stakeholders.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, monitoring, and data quality checks.
• Evolve data architecture, schema design, data contracts, and ingestion patterns.
• Lead design reviews, architecture decisions, and roadmap planning.
• Mentor other engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Promote testing, observability, and maintainable development practices.
