Proton Technologies AG is hiring for a backend-focused role in our Payments team. You will build features across Proton products, work closely with product engineers, and shape scalable software architectures that power a global subscription ecosystem.

A strong emphasis is placed on performance, security, and high-quality API design to enhance user experience. This office-first role offers collaborative in-person work with flexible options.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with backend development.
• Expertise in building scalable, high-performance solutions.
• Proficiency with profiling techniques and performance optimization tools.
• Experience leading a team initiative from discovery to production.
• Strong understanding of SQL (MySQL preferred) and data modeling best practices.
• Familiarity with Redis or other caching technologies for performance optimization.
• Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing secure software solutions.
• In-depth understanding of HTTP/REST and APIs development/consumption.
• Solid grasp of cryptographic concepts, including key exchange and symmetric/asymmetric encryption.
• Proton is an office-first company with emphasis on in-person collaboration.
