Join a world-leading travel company, who works with global financial institutions (e. g. , AMEX), corporate managed travel programs, offline travel agencies (e. g. , Flight Centre), and global travel suppliers (e. g. , Delta).

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong JVM (Java/Kotlin/Scala) skills to join our Madrid team. You will work on high-impact systems used by some of the biggest players in travel. This is an opportunity to lead small, well-defined projects, support complex initiatives, and proactively improve existing systems.

The Main Missions

• Develop, test, and maintain backend systems in production environments using public or hybrid cloud infrastructure.
• Lead small-scale projects and contribute as a supporting team member to complex ones.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and proposing solutions.
• Integrate systems with APIs and multiple data stores while ensuring reliability and performance.
• Write clear, maintainable code following industry best practices and company standards.

Required

• 6+ years of software development experience, preferably in JVM languages (Java, Kotlin, Scala).
• Proven experience building and maintaining software products in public or hybrid cloud infrastructures.
• Strong understanding of data structures, system design, testing, and debugging.
• Familiarity with at least two data stores, API access patterns, and integration practices.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and understand how projects fit within the team’s objectives.
• Proficiency in testing and monitoring tools to ensure code quality and system reliability.
