Affirm is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own backend systems at scale, shaping quarterly technical direction and delivering clear, reliable solutions. You will collaborate across product, design and analytics, driving architecture decisions and improving code quality while mentoring teammates and supporting on-call responsibilities.

The role focuses on scalable, compliant identity-related platforms used globally.

Formación

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design; write high‑quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
• Proficiency at making significant changes in a large code base, and a suite of tools and practices that enable safe changes.
• Proactive ownership of growth, seeking feedback from team, manager and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
• On‑call rotation – required for this role.

Responsabilidades

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open‑ended problems.
• Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics.
• Proactively identify project, process, technology or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
• Support operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting keep the lights on.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards.
• Develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.
