Urban Sports Club is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to build and operate PHP and Golang services at scale for thousands of users. You will design APIs, own production deployments, and drive best practices in a diverse, hybrid team across Europe.

You will work with GCP/AWS, collaborate with product and design, and help deliver a robust, scalable wellbeing platform. The role offers flexible hybrid work and remote options within the EU and beyond.

Formación

• 5+ years of backend experience with PHP and/or Golang.
• Experience designing APIs and scalable systems.
• Proficient with cloud services (GCP/AWS).
• Experience deploying distributed services in production.

Responsabilidades

• Architect, develop, and operate Golang and PHP services deployed to thousands of users.
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and designers to solve challenging problems, delivering a great wellbeing experience.
• Deliver testable, maintainable, high-quality code and own the components you develop.
• Be a driving force in the backend cluster, propagating engineering best practices.
• Work with an event-driven ecosystem, connecting services via PubSub events.

What you will do

• Architect, develop, and operate Golang and PHP services deployed to thousands of users.
• Collaborate with other engineers, product owners, and designers to identify and solve challenging problems, creating an outstanding wellbeing experience for users worldwide.
• Deliver testable, maintainable and high-quality code and take operational responsibility for the components that you develop.
• Be a strong participant in the Urban Sports-wide backend cluster affecting and driving best engineering practices across the company.
• Work with an event-driven ecosystem, build the communication between services via PubSub events.

What you will need to succeed

• You have proven working experience as a Senior Backend Engineer with PHP and preferably Golang (5+ yrs of experience).
• You have worked with GCP/AWS and corresponding cloud managed services.
• You have experience working directly with stakeholders to understand, document and develop APIs and systems to meet their requirements, driving increased adoption and reducing reliance on custom one-off implementations.
• You have written distributed, high-volume services and know how to deploy and keep them running in production.
• You believe data is the most powerful tool for informed decision-making.
• You have a deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.
