Job summary

Pearson is seeking a highly autonomous Senior Backend Engineer to design, implement, and scale backend services for AI-enabled digital products. You will collaborate across teams to define requirements and timelines while advancing DevOps, Clean Code, and DDD practices.

The role emphasizes secure, scalable architectures and mentoring junior engineers. The position is full-time and hybrid, with work from our Madrid or Poznań offices, requiring strong English communication and experience in Python

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field.
Hands-on software engineering experience with backend development.
Experience with Python and modern cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Proficiency in software development practices: CI/CD, code reviews, testing.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain backend components for digital products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define objectives and timelines.
Lead projects and promote backend best practices for scalable architecture.
Architect scalable services and APIs, including AI integration and microservices.
Operationalize AI models with data science teams and ensure reliability.
Maintain technical documentation and mentor junior engineers.
Champion continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Support DevOps practices and secure coding.
Stay updated on industry trends and propose improvements.
