Job summary

Swiss Re is seeking a senior software engineer for its IT Resilience unit in Spain. You will design and build reliable backend services, APIs, and automations while working across languages and platforms.

The role emphasizes engineering resilience, data integration, and hands-on mentoring to raise team standards. You will contribute to AI agent capabilities, modern development practices, and scalable solutions, collaborating with Solutions Architects to translate complex resilience challenges

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python and Go with ability to learn unfamiliar tech.
• Good working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP).
• Strong system and solution design skills with mentoring ability.
• Interest in practical AI and intelligent automation capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop reliable backend services, APIs, integrations and automation.
• Work across languages, platforms, and technologies with strong engineering principles.
• Strengthen resilience and contingency across the tech landscape, including backend and data workloads.
• Contribute to AI Agent and intelligent automation capabilities from ideas to practical solutions.
• Work with enterprise data and databases to support integration and transformation needs.
• Provide technical and design input with Solutions Architect and engineering teams.
• Build and operate software using modern engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, observability, cloud).
• Mentor junior engineers and raise engineering standards.
