Swiss Re is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer in Madrid to design, build and operate core services powering our enterprise IT ecosystem. You will lead backend development with Golang, implement RESTful APIs and CI/CD pipelines, and support AI-enabled PoCs in collaboration with product teams.

You will work on the Federated API, CMDB integrations, and scalable data processing with SQL, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms. Strong English required; on-site in Madrid.

We play a critical role in shaping Swiss Res Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) capabilities, including the evolution of our enterprise CMDB and its integrations.

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Golang expertise to design, build, and operate the core services that power our enterprise IT ecosystem. You will take a leading role in developing mission-critical backend services, enabling reliable integrations across the business, and supporting the adoption of AI-driven capabilities. While the role is backend-focused, there will be selective involvement in frontend components where this supports end-to-end delivery.

You will work closely with a dedicated product team and fellow engineers in a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment, ensuring mutual coverage, shared ownership, and long-term maintainability of our platforms. The role balances strategic engineering with hands-on delivery, contributing directly to system stability, resilience, and continuous improvement whilst building our AI assisted future through meaningful PoCs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust backend services using Golang.

About You

• Proven 3+ years' experience programming with Golang
• 8+ years' experience with modern programming languages.
• A strong sense of ownership of your work, acting as the CEO of your area, consistently delivering excellence.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, database modeling, and optimization techniques.
• Hands-on experience with Azure or equivalent cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in Angular 2+ and Node.js frontend development.
• Experience with microservices architecture, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Knowledge of AI technologies and intelligent systems.
• Experience with ETL workflows and data processing at scale.
• Background in enterprise IT environments and configuration management.

For Spain, the base salary range for this position is between EUR 60,000 and EUR 100,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
• the applicant\'s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
