Fotocasa Group, a Spain-based real estate tech leader, is hiring a Backend Engineer for its tech team in Barcelona. You will lead technical direction, design scalable microservices, and mentor engineers to raise engineering standards across the organization.

We value hands-on experience with Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka, and you will work in a hybrid model with strong ownership and cross-team collaboration.

Formación

• 8+ years of backend development, with large-scale distributed systems experience.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Java and architectural design of microservices.
• Hands-on with Spring Boot/Spring Cloud and AWS services in production.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and observability tools.
• Strong CI/CD practices, SOLID principles, testing, and security awareness.
• Fluent in Spanish and English; experience in Agile/Scrum environments.

As a Backend Engineer, you will work in one of the product teams by providing services and solutions that would help millions of users.

What You'll Do:

• Lead technical direction within your product team, architecting scalable solutions that support millions of users.


• You will work closely together with the team to analyze problems and define hypotheses to solve them, even being able to propose solutions with ambiguity.


• Those hypotheses will be validated through iterative solutions, experimentation, and a fail-fast culture.


• Be a driver of technical evolution within the Backend community, identifying and introducing emerging technologies and best practices from the industry to continuously raise the engineering bar across the organization.


• Align between several teams is important to provide solutions that could fit all stakeholders at the right moment.


• You will mentor other engineers, lead technical design reviews, and foster a culture of engineering excellence


• You will take ownership of cross-team initiatives, bridging the gap between product strategy and technical implementation.


• You will think beyond the backend: understanding the full end-to‑end product experience and ensuring technical decisions are grounded in business and user impact.

What We’re Looking For

Technical skills

• 8+ years of experience in backend development, with significant experience in high‑scale distributed systems.


• Kotlin, Java.


• Deep experience in system architecture, microservices design patterns, and performance optimization.


• Experience building microservices (Spring boot, spring cloud).


• Hands‑on experience with AWS services (e.g. Lambda, S3, RDS) in production environments.


• Experience with Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, ECS, Docker Swarm.


• Experience with streaming processing tools like Kafka.


• Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana), including defining alerting strategies and SLOs.


• Experience with CI/CD tools.


• Good development practices (SOLID, testing), security care and proficiency in building well‑tested code.


• Experience working with Agile frameworks (scrum).


• Ability to drive technical initiatives end‑to‑end, from problem definition to delivery, with a high level of ownership and attention to detail.


• You will own the technical vision: simplifying our architecture, reducing accidental complexity, and ensuring every technical decision is grounded in business alignment and long‑term engineering excellence.
