Job summary

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center is seeking a Senior AI Agent & Systems Architect to lead multi‑step agentic workflows and integrate MCP and function‑calling into state‑of‑the‑art language models. You will guide experiments in a high‑performance computing environment while mentoring junior researchers and collaborating with infrastructure teams.

Strong track records in LLMs, Python and deep learning are required, with a focus on open‑source contributions and publications in top venues.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
• Proven track record in developing LLM-based agents, function calling systems or complex AI pipelines.
• Excellent English communication, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of agentic workflows focusing on multi-step reasoning, tool‑use and autonomous decision‑making.
• Architect the integration of MCP and Function Calling capabilities into language models.
• Supervise robust agent evaluation frameworks for reliability, safety and tool interaction accuracy.
• Collaborate with infrastructure to deploy agentic systems in HPC environments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior researchers, shaping the roadmap for agentic capabilities.
• Contribute to top conferences and Open Source projects in language modeling and agents.
