Hitachi Energy in Madrid is seeking an experienced Control & Protection engineer to take ownership of engineering tasks across high-voltage substations throughout Europe. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and proven experience in the field.

In this role, you will take ownership of Secondary (Control & Protection) engineering across high‑voltage substation and energy quality projects throughout Europe.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Deliver and coordinate all Control & Protection engineering scope for HV substations.
• Create and review diagrams, schematics, panel designs, and cabling documentation.
• Ensure integrity, completeness, and correct functionality of substation systems.
• Lead design, calculations, and documentation from base design to project close‑out.
• Provide technical recommendations and identify risks and improvements.
• Support project teams with scope changes, including cost, time, and risk assessments.
• Resolve complex technical issues remotely and on‑site (international travel occasionally).
• Collaborate cross‑functionally and provide support during testing, installation, and commissioning.

Your background

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
• Proven experience in Control & Protection engineering for high‑voltage substations.
• Strong knowledge of substation engineering and auxiliary services.
• Hands‑on experience with AutoCAD for design and drafting.
• Commitment to safe work practices and quality standards.
• Strong communication skills with a collaborative and solutions‑driven mindset.
