SilverBack is recruiting an HSE Officer (m/w/d) to support health, safety and environmental performance on a major green copper smelter project in Spain. The role is field-based, on-site, and requires close work with the HSE Lead, construction teams and contractors.

The successful candidate will monitor safety standards, conduct inspections, support permits and training, and help ensure environmental compliance across the site.

Formación

• Previous experience as an HSE Officer or HSE Advisor on construction or industrial projects.
• Good understanding of Spanish HSE regulations and EU safety requirements.
• Spanish and English language skills are highly preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure commissioning activities comply with safety, hygiene, environmental, and health standards.
• Conduct safety inspections during testing, hot works, energization, work at height, blasting operations, and handling hazardous waste.
• Manage work permits, including hot work, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and confined space entry.
• Coordinate with the Client's HSE team regarding specific safety training, emergency plans, and control of emissions and waste.
• Supervise compliance with environmental regulations (gas emissions, dust, leachates) and environmental mitigation measures.
• Monitor site activities continuously to advise construction teams and ensure safety standards are actively implemented on-field.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive HSE Officer to support Health, Safety & Environmental performance across the project site. You will work closely with the HSE Lead, construction teams, and contractors—spending most of your time on site monitoring activities, advising teams, and ensuring safety and environmental standards are followed in practice. This is a practical, field-based role ideal for someone who likes being on site, solving problems fast, and keeping people safe.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an HSE Officer or HSE Advisor on construction or industrial projects.
• Good understanding of Spanish HSE regulations and EU safety requirements.
• Experience in heavy industry, process plants, energy, or metals projects is an advantage.
• Comfortable working on site and engaging directly with supervisors and crews.
• Strong communication skills—clear, calm, and confident when handling critical site matters.
• EU passport or legal right to work in Spain required.
• Spanish and English language skills are highly preferred.
