Fundación IIS Aragón in Spain seeks a First Stage Researcher (R1) to collaborate on the technical development, programming and validation testing of a bioinformatics tool for polygenic score studies, under the direct supervision of the principal investigator.

The main duties include building and maintaining the tools for polygenic score analyses related to hyperlipidemias and diabetes, processing clinical/genomic data, preparing technical reports and assisting in publications, with a start date

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent qualification.
• Master's Degree in the Biomedical Field.
• Three months of experience in biomedical data analysis.

Responsabilidades

• Collaborate in development, programming and validation testing of the computer tool for polygenic score study under PI supervision.
• Participate in building and maintaining bioinformatics tool for polygenic score studies in diabetes patients on statins.
• Support in data processing, quality control and harmonization of clinical and genomic data for predictive models.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, progress reports and drafts of publications.
• Provide operational technical support and resolve basic incidents in the use of the developed tools.

Resolution of September 15, 2026, of the Aragon Health Research Institute Foundation (IIS Aragon), announcing a position for Researcher N3 [Ref. HR-26/037]

Required requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent qualification
• Master's Degree in the Biomedical Field
• Three months of experience in biomedical data analysis

The main functions to be developed are:

• Collaboration in the technical development, programming and validation testing of the computer tool intended for the study of the polygenic score (PRS) associated with the diagnoses of hyperlipidemias not related to monogenic hypercholesterolemia, under the direct supervision of the principal investigator.
• Participation in the construction, optimization and technical maintenance of the bioinformatics tool for the study of the polygenic score associated with the diagnoses of diabetes mellitus in patients treated with statins, following the research protocols defined by the project management.
• Support in the implementation and execution of the analytical tool for the study of the polygenic score associated with the diagnoses of diabetes mellitus in patients treated with statins, acting under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator and in accordance with the research protocols established in the project.
• Performing processing, quality control and preliminary harmonization tasks on the clinical and genomic data needed to feed the predictive models, following the technical criteria and instructions received from the project management.
• Collaboration in the preparation of technical reports, progress reports and drafts of scientific publications, limited to the description of the methodology used and the basic processing of data from the tools developed, under the supervision, review and final validation of the Principal Investigator.
• Provide operational technical support and collaborate in resolving basic incidents in the use of the developed tools, in accordance with the communication channels and guidelines expressly authorized by the Principal Investigator.

a) Training and knowledge relevant to the position (0–20 points)

• Additional training in bioinformatics or omics/genomic data analysis (0–5 points)
• Training in clinical databases, medical records management, or health data curation (0–5 points)
• Training in biostatistics, quantitative epidemiology, or predictive modelling of biomedical data (0–10 points)

b) Professional experience:

Aimed at assessing the level at which the candidate, throughout their professional career, has carried out tasks related to those required for the position (0–40 points):

• Experience in the bioinformatic or statistical processing and analysis of genomic/genetic data (0–10 points)
• Experience in the management, cleaning, or analysis of databases derived from studies or research projects in the field of health sciences (0–10 points)
• Research stays or collaboration with research centres, units, or groups in the field of biomedicine or health sciences (0–10 points)
• Experience in scientific communication and outreach activities (including contributing to the preparation of indexed scientific articles and preparing abstracts, communications, or presentations for conferences in the biomedical and health sciences field) (0–10 points)
