Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM) invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Computational Neuroscience group. The contract is temporary (4 months) with a start envisaged October 2026, located at CRM facilities in Catalonia.

Flexible hours and teleworking options are available as part of the role. The candidate will analyze EEG and behavioral data, contribute to manuscript writing, and work within a multidisciplinary team focused on perception and decision-making neuroscience.

Formación

• Strong expertise in the neuroscience of motion processing and decision-making.

Description

The CRM(www.crm.cat) is an independent research centre in the CERCA network since 2008, with the purpose of promoting both advanced training and research in all areas of mathematics, in collaboration with universities and other research institutions in Catalonia. CRM’s mission includes transferring knowledge based on the centre's research to society and aiming at having societal impact.

Research at CRM covers a wide spectrum of fields, from the most fundamental areas (algebra/number theory/geometry/topology, analysis and PDEs, combinatorics and dynamical systems) to applied mathematics (in the fields of biomedicine, climate change mitigation and adaptation and natural hazards).

The Computational Neuroscience group at the CRM is looking for a Research Assistant to join the project ‘EXPLAINING AWAY COMO MECANISMO CANONICO DE LA PERCEPCION HUMANA’. This contract is envisaged to start in October 2026.

TASKS

• Analyze behavioral and EEG data recorded from a cohort of adult human participants, including spectral analysis
• Write research manuscript with research outputs

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong expertise in the neuroscience of motion processing and decision-making and related electrophysiological markers
• Prior experience with EEG data collection, pre-processing and analysis
• Masters in computational neuroscience or related
• Fluency in english

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS

• High programming skills in Matlab or Python
• Clarity of exposition of scientific results
• Motivation for research in the neuroscience of perception and decision-making

CONTRACT DETAILS

• Full-time (37,5h/week).
• Qualification: the candidate must have a MSC in neuroscience or related topic
• Estimated start date: October, 2026
• Duration of contract: 4 months
• Location: CRM facilities.

EVALUATION PROCESS AND CRITERIA

The selection process will be evaluated by Dr. Alexandre Hyafil asprincipal investigator of the Computational Neuroscience group, Dr. Klaus Wimmer asa member of the Computational Neuroscience group and another member from theresearch group. This process consists in:

2) Shortlist: assessment of the fulfilment of the minimum requirements of the offer.

3) Selection: evaluation of the shortlisted candidates by a total score according to objective criteria.

4) Final decision: If we find the right person, the resolution will be formally communicated and will be published in the CRM careers section.
