ICN2, a flagship research center in nanoscience and nanotechnology located in Barcelona, Spain, seeks a Research Support Technician. The role supports the Nanostructured Functional Materials group with synthesis, characterization, and project leadership within an international team.

The position requires a Bachelor and Master in relevant fields, strong English, and proven experience in chemical synthesis and nanotechnology characterization.

Formación

• Bachelor and Master Degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Materials Science or similar.
• Knowledge: Science and technology of nanotechnology for medicine.
• Professional Experience: Experience in chemical synthesis and modification.
• Experience in microscopic and spectroscopic characterization techniques (FTIR, UV-Vis, EA, TGA, NMR, SEM, TEM, FIB).
• Fluent in English both spoken and written.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.

Responsabilidades

• Synthesis of nanoparticles and nanoconjugates, modification and functionalization.
• Chemical characterization by FTIR, UV-Vis, electron microscopies, TGA, NMR, EPR and elemental analysis, among others.
• Work as part of an international team and help lead parts of the project.

ICN2 comprises 20 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Job Title: Research Support Technician

Department: Nanostructured Functional Materials

Description of Group/Project: Valorization of a novel therapeutic platform engineered to improve enzyme stability, targeting efficiency, and bioavailability, including tissues that are currently inaccessible with conventional ERT, and to avoid the immune response.

Main Tasks and responsibilities: The candidate will be involved in activities related to the synthesis and characterization and final validation of hybrid nanogels. The candidate will work as part of an international team and she/he is expected to actively participate and lead part of this project. The tasks to be performed will include:

• Synthesis of nanoparticles/nanocojugates, modification and functionalization.
• Chemical characterization by different means (FTIR, UV-Vis, electron microscopies, TGA, NMR, EPR and elemental analysis, among others).

Requirements

• Education: A Bachelor and Master Degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Materials Science or similar. (Candidates must be in possession of their master degree at call deadline)
• Knowledge: Science and technology of nanotechnology for medicine
• Professional Experience: Experience in the chemical synthesis and modification.
• Experience in microscopic and spectroscopic characterization techniques (FTIR, UV-vis, EA, TGA, NMR, SEM, TEM, FIB, etc.).
• Personal Competences: Excellent communication and writing skills
• Fluent in English both spoken and written
• Intrinsic motivation, strong commitment, responsibility, independence, teamwork skills.
• Ability in writing complete technical reports

Summary of conditions

• Full time work (37,5h/week)
• Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience.
