Job summary

Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) in San Sebastian, Spain, seeks a skilled legal professional to manage contracts, data protection, and IP matters for the research center. The role covers drafting and negotiation with universities, startups, and international partners, ensuring compliance and governance across the organization.

You will work with the Projects Department and external advisers, monitor regulatory changes, and support procurement processes.

Qualifications

• Experience advising research centres, universities, foundations or public-sector entities.
• Postgraduate training in data protection, IP, compliance, or research law.
• Knowledge of GDPR and LOPDGDD.
• Experience drafting international contracts and agreements.
• Familiarity with foundations governance and the Science Act.

Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal documentation for the DIPC, including contracts and agreements.
• Providing legal support on personal data protection and responding to internal queries.
• Advising on intellectual and industrial property, including ownership and licensing of research results.
• Supporting foundations governance, articles of association, and governing bodies.
• Analyzing funding schemes, grants and consortium agreements for projects.
• Developing and monitoring compliance policies and procedures.
• Providing legal support to other departments, coordinating with external advisers.
• Monitoring regulatory developments and updating internal documents.
• Managing public procurement matters in collaboration with the Public Procurement Manager.
• Handling tax matters related to the foundation, research and mobility.
