A leading renewable energy company in Spain is seeking an experienced Director of BESS to shape and execute the BESS strategy. This role involves overseeing the full project lifecycle, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. Ideal candidates will have over 10 years of experience in energy infrastructure, particularly in utility-scale BESS projects. NXGN Resources is partnering with a leading renewable energy company to recruit an experienced Head of BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) for its growing Spanish operations. In this strategic leadership role, you will shape and execute the company’s BESS strategy across Spain—ensuring the successful development of technically robust, economically sound, and fully permitted energy storage projects. Acting as the central coordinator, you’ll bring together cross-functional teams, regulatory authorities, and key stakeholders to deliver ready‑to‑build BESS projects that accelerate Europe’s renewable energy transition.
Project Development: Oversee the full BESS project lifecycle—from feasibility and permitting to environmental assessments and stakeholder engagement.
Regulatory Oversight: Stay abreast of regulatory frameworks to secure timely, compliant project approvals.
Financial Management: Oversee project budgets and forecasts, prepare reports and business cases in coordination with Finance and Trading teams. Define BESS system specifications in collaboration with the Head of Engineering and technical experts.
Land & Permitting: Support land acquisition and permitting activities with Development and GIS teams. Manage capacity requests and negotiate optimal interconnection conditions to ensure project success.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Technology, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in energy infrastructure development, including 3–5 years in utility‑scale BESS projects. Proven track record of leading large‑scale, complex energy projects from inception to completion.
