Social Discovery Group (SDG) is hiring a Machine Learning Lead to own the ML strategy for dialogue systems, align bets with business metrics, and lead a team of 3–5 ML engineers. This remote-friendly role covers end-to-end model training, fine-tuning with LoRA/QLoRA, tool-using LLMs, evaluation, and scalable inference while requiring CET hours and Russian language fluency.

Qualifications

• Have trained and shipped models yourself, not only managed others.
• Experience leading a team of ML engineers (3–5).
• Expert-level Python and transformer architectures; hands-on training, fine-tuning and evaluation.
• Production experience with LLM systems: APIs, streaming, batching, cost/latency trade-offs, observability.
• Ability to read research and turn it into prototypes, evaluations and shipped changes.
• Fluent in Russian, CET hours (±2).

Responsibilities

• Own the ML strategy for dialogue systems and tie bets to business metrics.
• Lead a team of 3–5 ML engineers; set technical bar and grow people.
• Drive end-to-end training, fine-tuning (SFT/LoRA/QLoRA) and dataset construction.
• Design agent harnesses and tool-using LLM systems with careful guardrails and memory.
• Build evaluation layers and ensure alignment with A/B outcomes.
• Reduce dialogue failures and maintain efficient inference (latency and cost).
• Remain hands-on ~10–20% for prototyping and debugging.
