Job summary

Shift5, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer to bridge engineering teams with real-world deployments. You will oversee integration into DoW platforms, manage baselines, and deliver formal system artifacts for government programs.

The role is based at our Rosslyn, VA headquarters but open to remote candidates in the US, with travel up to 30% to support site integrations and testing. Strong leadership and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in systems, integration, or software engineering, preferably in aerospace/defense/high-reliability electronics.
• Familiarity with government contract documentation (DIDs: SRD/SRS/IDD/ICD/SDD/CSA).
• Knowledge of system integration, verification methods, and DoW program artifacts (CDRLs).

Responsibilities

• Define and design integration of Shift5 software/hardware into customer platforms, including interfaces, environments, topology, encryption, and MIL-STD qualification.
• Own and maintain system-level baselines, oversee testing/verification of requirements, and manage SRD/SRS/ICD documents.
• Lead development and delivery of CDRL artifacts and system design documents.
• Lead end-to-end technical execution across software, platform, cyber, data science, and integration teams.
• Define verification strategies, performance analyses, and ensure safety, fault tolerance, and dependability.
• Serve as technical interface with customers, PMOs, and certification authorities, guiding milestone reviews.
