Pliant is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join the AI Experience team. You will work at the intersection of software engineering, product thinking, and applied AI, prototyping finance copilot experiences and improving how agents reason over transaction data.

You should be comfortable with ambiguity, design production-grade AI systems, collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers, and help raise the AI engineering bar across Pliant. Remote-friendly environment offered.

Formación

• Experience shipping AI-powered products or features into production.
• Strong software engineering skills in Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python.
• Knowledge of distributed architecture patterns and cloud infrastructure; Terraform is a plus.
• Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or LangGraph and understanding of underlying concepts.
• Hands-on experience with LLM interaction patterns (tool calling, memory, embeddings, RAG, evaluation).

Responsabilidades

• Design and build AI-powered product experiences for finance and spend management.
• Build chat experiences, copilots, autonomous workflows, and internal AI tools that solve real customer and operational problems.
• Work with LLMs, structured data, APIs, and business logic to build production-grade AI systems (retrieval, vector search, text-to-SQL, OCR).
• Design AI solutions using appropriate approaches for the problem (tool calling, retrieval, agentic workflows, deterministic logic).
• Build observable, auditable systems with guardrails and monitoring for production trust.
• Create evaluation approaches to measure AI system improvements.
• Experiment with new models and techniques and turn useful ones into production features.
• Think about accuracy, latency, cost, reliability, and user trust.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to shape what we build.
• Help raise the AI engineering bar across Pliant.
