Barry Callebaut Group is seeking a QA Systems Specialist for our facility in Catalunya, Spain, to lead microbiology and food safety programs. You will apply HACCP, EMP and GFSI guidelines to identify risks, perform risk analyses, and drive root cause analysis with production and management to implement corrective actions.

The role supports customer food safety requirements and maintains standards for processes, materials and products.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in food safety including HACCP and EMP.
  • Experience with GFSI standards (FSSC22000 or BRC).
  • High degree of computer literacy.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation, ISO and SPC/statistical methods.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and delegate.
  • Organizational and analytical skills.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop, implement, and manage food safety policies and procedures for the plant, based on global input.
  • Conduct periodic audits and inspections of food handling and storage practices in the plant.
  • Ensure plant operations comply with HACCP and regulatory standards.
  • Act as master trainer on food safety practices; train staff on GMP, HACCP, pest management, and hygiene.
  • Investigate food safety trends and incidents; lead cross-functional root-cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular food safety audits in collaboration with production and QA teams.
  • Review EMP and sanitation results and take timely action for non-conforming results.
  • Maintain HACCP, CCP, OPRP sheets and validations; communicate issues.
  • Ensure allergen validations (where applicable) meet BC requirements.

About The Role

QA Systems Specialist is responsible for execution and implementation of key microbiology and food safety programs for the local factory. You will possess an in-depth knowledge of HACCP, environmental monitoring program and food safety. You will be also able to show an ability to identify food safety risks in a food production environment, conduct and prioritize risk analysis, and be able to work with production and management employees to drive root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action. This position will also support GFSI requirements as well as multiple customer food safety requirements for the site and be able to plan and direct activities concerned with development, application and maintenance of food safety standards for industrial processes, materials and products. Perform other Food Safety related duties as requested.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Develop, implement, and manage food safety policies and procedures for the plant, as based on global input
  • Conduct periodic audits and inspections of food handling and storage practices in the plant.
  • Ensure compliance of the plant operations with food safety regulations, including HACCP, and applicable regulatory standards
  • Act as master trainer at the plant on food safety practices and regulations. Train staff on GMP practices, HACCP, pest management protocols, and hygiene standards
  • Investigate food safety trends & incidents and implement corrective actions as necessary. Lead cross-functional teams to improve food safety practices and culture within the organization
  • Conduct regular food safety audits. Collaborate with production and quality assurance teams to identify and mitigate food safety risks
  • Regular review of EMP & sanitation results and implement timely action for non-conforming results
  • Monitor and Maintain HACCP, CCP, OPrP sheets and communicate issues
  • Ensure CCP/OPRP validations are conducted on a regular basis and meet all requirements
  • Ensure allergen validations (where applicable) are conducted on a regular basis and meet the BC requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of GMP compliance and pest management activities, including inspections and corrective actions taken
  • Coordinate with pest control vendors to ensure effective pest management strategies are in place
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in food safety to include training in HACCP and EMP
  • Experience with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) food safety standards, preferably FSSC22000 or British Retail Consortium (BRC)
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Working knowledge of Sanitation, ISO and working SPC/statistical knowledge
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and delegate
  • Organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to climb stairs, bend, stand, kneel, work over and under all equipment and machinery and be able to move about the entire factory, both interior and exterior freely
