Job summary

GALEO is seeking a Python Software Backend Engineer to build backends and APIs for real-time data integration with clients. You’ll design data models, develop services that publish and consume events, and deploy on AWS, working closely with clients to understand business problems and deliver production-ready solutions.

You will use AI tools daily to assist development, review code, and document features, aiming for clean, maintainable code and scalable architectures. Remote work is available.

Qualifications

• 3+ years backend development with Python.
• Experience designing REST APIs.
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL; NoSQL knowledge.
• Familiarity with AWS services (RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB).
• Experience with Kafka or pub/sub and event-driven architecture.
• Ability to talk to clients and translate requirements into features.
• Experience with containers (Docker, ECS/Fargate) and IaC.
• Experience with serverless (Lambda & API Gateway).
• Familiar with CI/CD, observability, and production monitoring.
• Consultancy background or project work with end clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python backend and API using FastAPI or similar.
• Design data models for PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Build services that publish/consume events via Kafka.
• Deploy and operate services on AWS.
• Meet with clients to gather requirements and translate into features.
• Apply AI tools across design, development, testing, code reviews, and docs.
