Ideal candidates hold an engineering degree, have 5+ years in a lead role, and are fluent in English and Spanish. Travel up to 30% is required, with opportunities to shape the future of energy in Europe.

Qualifications

Academic degree in Engineering (Electrical or similar).
Minimum 5 years in a leading/project lead role.
Experience with HVDC technology is a plus.
Power industry experience is required.
Fluent in English and Spanish; other languages advantageous.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary technical liaison for customers and stakeholders.
Coordinate global project teams across engineering, planning, and risk assessments.
Lead development of solutions for complex HVDC projects and tenders.
Drive completion of engineering activities on projects within scope and budget.
Provide technical support for testing, installation and commissioning.
Prepare project documents within budget, scope and contract.
Ensure adherence to safety standards and manage project risks.
Maintain technical quality in contracts, documents and deliveries.

At Hitachi Energy, we are establishing and developing an Operation Center of Excellence in Madrid, Spain (ESOPC) within the Grid & Power Quality Solutions business in Europe (HBUEU).

HVDC is now looking for a Project Lead Engineer (f/m/d) who is ready to take on the overall technical responsibility in HVDC projects and tenders. In this role, you will utilize your technical expertise and take the lead on projects and tenders where you will have the responsibility to coordinate global project teams. The activities associated with this role include, but are not limited to, engineering and design, planning, and risk assessments. You will act as a technical liaison and primary point of contact for key internal and external stakeholders.

Serve as the primary contact for technical matters with customers
Ensure complete and multidisciplinary information in engineering development
Lead the development of new solutions for complex projects and challenges
Drive the completion of all engineering activities on projects
Provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities
Prepare project documents within budget, scope, and contract
Ensure adherence to safety standards and mitigate potential risks
Maintain technical quality in contracts, documents, and deliveries

Your Background

Academic degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical Engineering or similar)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar lead role
Experience with HVDC technology is a plus
Power industry experience or similar a must
Communication and collaboration skills
Ability to take a leading role and deliver quality results
Fluency in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing, is required. Other languages are a great advantage
Up to 30% travel required
