Jobtailor is seeking a Electrical Engineer with BESS expertise in Madrid to lead utility-scale storage projects from development to operation. You will model energy production, prepare budgets, and develop technical specs while coordinating internal and external teams.

You will ensure regulatory compliance (NFPA 855, UL 9540/9540A), oversee interconnection design, and support procurement and customers. Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in utility-scale BESS industry and BESS technologies (Batteries, PCS, EMS, SCADA, BMS).
• Experience across BESS project lifecycle phases: development, engineering, construction, commissioning, operation.
• Experience with production/sensitivity analysis of models and BESS engineering drawings, calculations, specifications.
• Strong project coordination and documentation skills.
• Good understanding of MV/HV grid connection and European grid requirements.
• Experience with EPC contractors, suppliers, consultants, and lenders.
• Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and oral.

Responsabilidades

• Manage projects from design through permitting, site visits, construction support, and compliance with customer requirements.
• Develop energy production models, schedules, cost estimates, budgets, BOMs, scopes, and supplier quotes.
• Create and maintain SLDs, layouts, electrical schematics, specs and other documentation.
• Coordinate internal and external designers.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 855, UL 9540, UL 9540A, and local fire requirements.
• Develop interconnection requirements and EMS/BMS/SCADA protocols (DNP3, Modbus).
• Analyze battery degradation and State of Health, develop capacity augmentation strategies.
• Track BESS technologies, costs, suppliers, applications, and market trends.
• Support construction management including FAT, SAT, commissioning, QA and schedule adherence.
• Coordinate engineering consultants and specialized contractors.
• Assist customers and business development.
• Evaluate vendor proposals, collaborate with procurement and project controls.
• Develop O&M guidelines and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the utility-scale BESS industry and BESS technologies, including Batteries, PCS, EMS, SCADA, and BMS
• Experience across BESS project lifecycle phases: development, engineering, construction, commissioning, and operation
• Experience managing production/sensitivity analysis of models and BESS engineering, including drawings, calculations, and technical specifications
• Strong project coordination and documentation skills
• Good understanding of MV/HV grid connection and European grid requirements
• Experience working with EPC contractors, suppliers, consultants, and lenders
• Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
• Professional fluency in Spanish and English, verbal and written
