Job summary

Datavant is seeking an Associate Product Manager to join the Life Sciences Product team in Barcelona. You will support Record Retrieval initiatives, prioritize fixes, and help drive product health and roadmap discussions across Engineering, Design, and commercial teams.

The role emphasizes customer discovery, feature write-ups, and partnering with stakeholders in a collaborative, hybrid work environment. You will contribute to data discovery improvements, document requirements, and balance user

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in product management or adjacent roles (e.g., business analysis, product operations, implementation, or software delivery)
• Ability to break a defined problem into practical steps, write clearly, and follow through with attention to detail and reliability
• Strong organization and communication skills with clear written and spoken English and ability to work across teams/time zones
• Curiosity about customers and ability to use feedback to improve features or workflows
• Collaborative approach with Engineering, Design, Delivery, and commercial teams
• Interest in learning Datavant’s business model, healthcare data ecosystem, and relevant privacy/regulatory considerations
• Exposure to healthcare or life sciences data, customer research, product analytics, or AI-assisted workflows would be a plus

Responsibilities

• Support Record Retrieval customers and commitments and help prioritize fixes and improvements within the approved investment plan
• Keep Record Retrieval performance and scope visible and document product fit for new opportunities
• Coordinate delivery reviews, resourcing, and partner referrals for abstraction
• Deliver Data Discovery improvements across Insights reporting, Explore Assistant, and Datavant Connect
• Synthesize feedback, conduct stakeholder discussions, and contribute to roadmap discussions
• Write clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering and design
• Track milestones, dependencies, blockers, and communicate progress to stakeholders
• Support validation, rollout, adoption, and documentation for released features
• Use AI tools to support research, analysis, prototyping, and ensure outputs meet accuracy standards

Support Record Retrieval customers and commitments. Track product issues and delivery needs with customer-facing teams, and help prioritize fixes and a limited set of improvements within the approved investment plan. Keep Record Retrieval performance and scope visible. Gather product health, delivery effort, and commercial results for investment reviews. Help document product fit for selected new opportunities, coordinate Delivery review of scope and resourcing, and support partner referrals for abstraction. Deliver defined Data Discovery improvements. Take responsibility for features across Insights reporting, Explore Assistant, and Datavant Connect, working within the direction set by the Product leads responsible for larger initiatives. Participate in customer discovery and stakeholder discussions. Synthesize feedback, identify gaps, and use research and usage data to refine features and contribute to roadmap discussions. Write clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Explain the customer problem and expected outcome, consider edge cases, and work with Engineering and Design to balance user needs, technical constraints, and effort. Organize and follow through on delivery. Maintain the backlog, define schedules and milestones for your features, track dependencies, and help resolve blockers. Escalate risks and decisions when additional support is needed. Keep teams and stakeholders informed. Communicate progress, decisions, and changes clearly, and help align the project team around a practical execution plan. Support feature validation, rollout, and adoption. Check that delivered functionality meets acceptance criteria, contribute documentation and release materials, answer feature-level questions, and review feedback and usage after launch. Use AI tools thoughtfully throughout product development, including research synthesis, analysis, drafting, and prototyping. Check outputs for accuracy and follow company guidance on handling sensitive information.

1–2 years of experience in product management or an adjacent role, such as business analysis, product operations, implementation, or software delivery. Relevant internships and project experience are welcome. The ability to break a well-defined problem into practical steps, write clearly, and follow through with attention to detail and reliability. Strong organization and communication skills, including clear written and spoken English and the ability to work with colleagues across teams and time zones. Curiosity about customers and the ability to use feedback and evidence to improve a feature or workflow. A collaborative approach to working with Engineering, Design, Delivery, and commercial teams, including openness to feedback and sound judgment about when to ask for support. An interest in learning Datavant’s business model, the healthcare data ecosystem, and relevant privacy and regulatory considerations, and understanding how product decisions affect customers and internal teams.
