Wabtec Corporation is seeking a Brake Control Product Manager to own strategy, competitiveness, and lifecycle performance of the Brake Control portfolio. You will define the roadmap, architecture evolution, modularization, and platform development, collaborating with Sales, Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Operations and R&D.

Product Line Overview

Wabtec Transit Brakes & Couplers is a world leader in the supply of braking systems and couplers for all types of trains, on all continents. With more than a century of expertise, our braking systems range from brake manipulators to friction materials, air treatment and generation, brake control and bogie brake equipment. We deliver the widest range of couplers, covering most world standards.

How will you make a difference?

As Brake Control Product Manager, you will own the strategy, competitiveness, and lifecycle performance of Wabtec's Brake Control portfolio. Your mission is to connect customer needs, market trends, business objectives, and technology evolution to develop products that win in today's market while preparing the next generation of brake control systems for tomorrow.

You will define and drive the product roadmap, product architecture evolution, modularization strategy, and platform development for the portfolio. Working closely with Sales, Technical Sales, Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Operations, and R&D teams, you will translate market opportunities into tangible product and business outcomes.

What will your typical day look like?

• Define and drive the product strategy, roadmap, and technology vision for the Brake Control portfolio, aligning customer needs, market trends, and business objectives.
• Own the complete product lifecycle and portfolio performance, from introduction to retirement, ensuring competitiveness, profitability, and relevance in the market.
• Lead modularization and platforming initiatives to improve scalability, reduce complexity, accelerate development, and increase product re-use.
• Drive product excellence and cost competitiveness, leading quality, reliability, lifecycle optimization, value engineering, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Translate market and customer insights into future product requirements, technology roadmaps, and innovation programs.
• Support profitable business growth by maximizing product positioning, re-use, and competitiveness in customer bids and projects.
• Lead through influence, aligning Engineering, R&D, Quality, Sourcing, Operations, Service, and Commercial teams around portfolio objectives.
• Monitor market, competitive, and portfolio performance, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement where required.

What do we want to know about you?

Hard Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline; Master's degree is an advantage.
• Strong technical foundation in complex engineered systems, product architectures, and lifecycle management; knowledge of brake systems or railway vehicle subsystems is strongly preferred.
• Ability to translate customer needs, market insights, and business objectives into product strategies, roadmaps, and requirements.
• Experience with business cases, cost optimization, value engineering, product improvement, or industrial competitiveness initiatives.

Soft Skills

• Strong ownership mindset with a demonstrated ability to convert ideas into tangible business results.
• Strategic thinker capable of balancing long-term vision with pragmatic execution.
• Ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary and multicultural teams without direct authority.
• Sound judgment, entrepreneurial spirit, and willingness to challenge the status quo while driving continuous improvement.

• Fluent English is required (other EU languages are considered a plus)
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.

Successful candidates may come from Product Management, Engineering, Technical Sales, Quality, Operations, or other relevant functions. More important than prior job title is the ability to combine technical understanding, business acumen, ownership, and cross-functional leadership to deliver results.

this role can be located close to any Wabtec Transit site.
