Job summary

Pillar is searching for a Product Engineer who sits between engineering and product in Barcelona. You will write production code, talk to customers, and help decide what to build first.

You will own features end to end, from problem framing to the implementation, working across TypeScript, Next.js, React and Postgres. Expect close collaboration with Design, AI, and Customer teams, with AI integrated in daily work.

Qualifications

• Built product in a startup or scaleup and shipped code while shaping product decisions.
• Strong engineering background with TypeScript, React, Next.js and Postgres.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with engineers, designers and non-technical people.
• AI-native mindset; comfortable using AI as part of the workflow.

Responsibilities

• Talk to customers, understand how construction companies work, and translate insights into product decisions.
• Define features end to end: problem, scope, trade-offs, success metrics, and the code that makes them real.
• Build across the stack using TypeScript, Next.js, React and Postgres, shipping quickly and iterating on feedback.
• Collaborate with Design, Engineering, AI and Customer teams to ensure clear understanding of why we build what we build.
• Analyze data and usage to decide what to improve, what to cut, and what comes next.
• Leverage AI as a native part of discovery, building and learning.

Pillar was founded in 2025. Today, we are 90+ people, serve 1000+ customers, raised €15.2M (pre-seed and seed round) and are expanding internationally.

We are building the financial operating system for construction: bringing AI, automation and modern software to an enormous industry still full of slow, fragmented processes.

We are looking for a Product Engineer who sits right between engineering and product: someone who writes production code, talks to customers and helps decide what is worth building in the first place.

The mission

What you will do

• Talk to customers, understand how construction companies really work and turn what you hear into clear product decisions.
• Define features end to end: problem, scope, trade-offs, success metrics and the code that makes them real.
• Build across the stack in TypeScript, Next.js, React and Postgres, shipping fast and iterating on feedback.
• Work side by side with Design, Engineering, AI and Customer teams, so everyone knows why we are building something.
• Look at data and usage to decide what to improve, what to cut and what comes next.
• Use AI as a native part of how you discover, build and learn.

Who we are looking for

• You have built product in a startup or scaleup, ideally in the €3M to €30M growth stage, in a role where you both shipped code and shaped product decisions.
• You have a solid engineering background: you are comfortable with TypeScript, React, Next.js and Postgres, and you can own a feature from database to UI.
• You have strong product sense: you know how to frame a problem, say no to the wrong things and explain why a decision matters for the customer.
• You enjoy being close to customers and you are curious about how their work really happens, beyond what they say they need.
• You communicate clearly, in writing and in conversation, with engineers, designers and non technical people alike.
• You challenge ideas, accept trade-offs and make the people around you better.
• You are AI-native: AI is already part of how you work.
• Native Italian or Spanish, plus professional English. Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate.
