Product Design & Development Specialist – Fashion Licensing (Madrid)

Location: Madrid, Spain (4 days in-office, 1 day remote – Monday or Friday)

Team: Disney Consumer Products

Are you passionate about fashion and inspired by the power of storytelling through design? Do you thrive in creative environments where trend meets brand, and where your ideas can shape products seen across Europe? Join Disney’s Consumer Products team in Madrid and help bring beloved characters to life through licensed fashion partnerships.

We’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented Product Design & Development Specialist to join our dynamic team. You’ll play a key role in developing trend-driven, brand-right fashion products for licensees and Direct-to-Retail (DTR) partners. From concept to production, you’ll guide the design process, provide creative direction, and ensure every product meets Disney’s high standards.

This role blends design expertise with project management —ideal for someone who understands the fast fashion landscape, has hands-on creative experience, and can manage approvals and admin with precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the product approval process from concept to production using Disney’s Online Product Approval (OPA) system

  • Provide Fashion trend insights, design direction, and feedback on 2D and 3D submissions to maintain product quality

  • Train and support Disney's fashion licensees on brand guidelines, creative assets, and approval systems

  • Ensure licensees have access to the right creative tools and assets

  • Build strong relationships with licensees and internal teams across EMEA

  • Create product pitches, visuals, and mock-ups under the guidance of senior managers

  • Stay current with Disney characters and creative assets to ensure accurate and innovative product application

  • Support regional and global design initiatives

  • Ensure all products comply with corporate policies and legal requirements

  • Monitor fashion trends, leading brands, and pop culture to drive innovation

  • Participate in inspiration trips to identify new creative opportunities

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Product Design or related field, or equivalent experience in a Fashion or Lifestyle product company

  • Proven experience in product development or design, ideally within Fashion licensing, retail, or supplier environments

  • Knowledge of packaging and style guides is a plus

  • Strong conceptual and design skills; proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and MS Office (Mac OSX preferred)

  • Ability to create prototypes or models and communicate design briefs effectively

  • Understanding of fabrics, color, and product design; knowledge of manufacturing techniques is desirable

  • Excellent presentation and stakeholder management skills

  • Fluent in English and Spanish; additional European languages are a plus

  • Cultural awareness and understanding of EMEA markets

Additional Information

  • Flexibility for UK, European, or international travel may be required
