We are launching a new company in the stationary energy storage sector with a groundbreaking approach to battery technology. Our business model focuses on developing a proprietary, patented electrolyte technology for advanced static batteries, aiming to enable safe, sustainable, and highly cost-effective energy storage solutions for renewable energy integration.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a visionary and entrepreneurial Pre-CEO to lead this exciting Cleantech / Deeptech spin-off from a renowned research center into its next phase of growth. Building on our momentum, institutional backing, and protected IP, we aim to establish a globally recognized leader in the stationary energy storage sector.
This role involves an initial 12-month incubation period as Pre-CEO (under a service contract / part-time framework within the project's scope), focusing on validating the value proposition, defining the business model, conducting market discovery, and structuring the public and private fundraising strategy. Upon meeting the key milestones set for this 12-month period and incorporating the new company (spin-off), the role will evolve into the full-time CEO of the entity.
As Pre-CEO during this year, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s business strategy, driving market validation, and transitioning the technology into a standalone, scalable business. The ideal candidate has proven experience in business creation and technology commercialization, leading high-performance teams, and successfully raising private and non-dilutive capital. Additionally, expertise in securing industrial partnership agreements, conducting customer discovery, and executing technology transfer pathways is essential to drive the company’s success in the energy transition sector.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE?

• Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the company's vision, go-to-market strategy, and long-term goals to establish a leader in energy storage.

• Partnership Development: Establish and negotiate strategic partnerships with key industry players, energy providers, and research institutions.

• Market Discovery & Product Strategy: Conduct customer discovery interviews to identify market needs, define the commercial product configuration, and ensure strong product-market fit.

• Scientific Team Collaboration: Work closely with the scientific founding team to align technological performance metrics (KPIs) with market requirements.

• Financial & Operational Oversight: Manage project budgets, business modeling, and operational planning to ensure sustainable, milestone-driven growth. Fundraising & Investment: Build a strong investment narrative, lead fundraising efforts, secure venture capital as well as non-dilutive grants, and manage investor relations.

THIS OPPORTUNITY IS FOR YOU IF

• Experience in Deeptech & Energy Startups: Proven track record in business development, entrepreneurship, or leading spin-offs within the energy/cleantech sector, with a passion for driving the energy transition.

• Academic Background: University degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related STEM fields (PhD highly desirable).

• An MBA or equivalent degree with a strong foundation in business strategy, finance, and operations is preferred. Technological & Commercial Acumen: Ability to understand complex electrochemical performance metrics, KPIs, and tech risks to translate them into a compelling business case.

• Fundraising Experience: Demonstrated success or solid capability in leading funding rounds, securing grants/investments, and interacting with VCs.

• Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to navigate early-stage technical and market uncertainty with a hands-on, highly agile, and results-driven approach.

• High-Performance Team Leadership: Experience building and leading high-caliber teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

• Communication & Public Speaking: Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish, with the ability to effectively represent the company to investors, industrial partners, and stakeholders.

• Work Authorization: You hold a passport or visa that allows you to work in Spain.

• Location: Must be available for occasional travel to Santiago de Compostela as project demands dictate.
