Job summary

Starburst is seeking a hands-on Platform Lead to own and operate a production Starburst Enterprise platform from Barcelona. You will lead a small team, drive reliability, performance, and continuous improvement while staying hands-on technically.

The role requires experience with Starburst Enterprise, Trino/Presto, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD, and mentoring a small team. Hybrid work in Spain with 2–3 days onsite per week.

Qualifications

• Experience with Starburst Enterprise, Trino or Presto.
• Leadership or senior platform engineering experience.
• Kubernetes, Helm, Docker and YAML proficiency.
• AWS and RDS familiarity.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions.
• Python and SQL development and scripting.
• Production support, incident management and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day operation and reliability of the Starburst platform.
• Lead incident resolution, root-cause analysis and production support.
• Manage upgrades, releases, patching and operational changes.
• Support and improve Kubernetes-based platform infrastructure.
• Automate platform tasks using Python, SQL and YAML.
• Work with external vendors on technical issues, defects and upgrades.
• Mentor engineers and improve documentation, processes and team standards.
• Support monitoring, resilience, performance and continuous improvement.
