We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join an established engineering team working on the modernisation of a large-scale, high-traffic technology platform. This is a hands‑on role focused on understanding and improving a complex AWS estate. You will work alongside Principal Engineers to investigate existing infrastructure, reduce legacy complexity, improve security and progressively move infrastructure under Terraform management. You will also contribute to the infrastructure supporting the organisation’s growing use of agentic AI on AWS.
What you'll be doing
- Mapping infrastructure, traffic flows, ownership and dependencies
- Identifying infrastructure that can be retired, consolidated or modernised
- Migrating existing CloudFormation and manually managed AWS resources into Terraform
- Managing Terraform state and resource imports safely
- Operating and improving production EKS clusters
- Supporting AWS Lambda applications and RDS/PostgreSQL databases
- Working extensively with CloudFront, IAM, VPC and AWS networking
- Identifying and resolving infrastructure security issues
- Improving CI\/CD pipelines using CircleCI and GitHub
- Improving monitoring, logging, alerting and platform reliability
- Supporting infrastructure for agentic AI workloads on AWS
- Reviewing infrastructure changes across security, reliability, performance and cost
- Mentoring engineers and supporting engineering best practices
- Producing clear technical documentation and architecture diagrams
What we're looking for
You will be a highly experienced Platform, DevOps, SRE or Infrastructure Engineer with strong hands‑on experience operating production AWS environments.
You should have:
- Deep hands‑on AWS experience, ideally across multiple AWS accounts
- Experience migrating existing or legacy infrastructure into Terraform
- Strong experience with EKS / Kubernetes and Docker
- Experience with Lambda and RDS/PostgreSQL
- Good knowledge of CloudFront, IAM, VPC and AWS networking
- Experience with CircleCI and GitHub-based development workflows
- Bash and\/or Python scripting experience
- Experience with monitoring, logging and alerting
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security and least‑privilege access
- Experience making safe changes within complex production environments
- Strong code review, documentation and engineering standards
Nice to have
- Experience with Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore or other AI/agent infrastructure would be highly valuable.
- Experience using agentic development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex would also be beneficial.
- Experience working with high‑traffic consumer, media or publishing platforms, AWS cost optimisation, API Gateway or Auto Scaling would be advantageous.
