The Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA‑CSIC) is seeking a PhD candidate to research traffic‑bounded pollution in Barcelona under the TRACE work frame. The focus is on characterizing urban traffic aerosol with advanced instrumentation and machine‑learning techniques.

The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary and international research environment, contributing to the assessment of atmospheric pollution and its effects on health and climate.

Formación

• Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physics, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Data Science, Geology, or related disciplines.
• Programming skills.
• Interest in machine learning techniques.
• Ability to work in an organised, rigorous, and collaborative manner.
• Motivation to develop a PhD thesis in an international and multidisciplinary research environment.

The focus will be to characterize the urban traffic aerosol with advanced instrumentation (ACSM, Xact, SMPS…) and machine‑learning techniques.

The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary and international research environment, contributing to the assessment of atmospheric pollution and its effects on health and climate.
