A global biopharma company in Barcelona is seeking a PSP Therapeutic area director to drive the development and implementation of international strategies. This role requires significant experience in the biopharma industry and strong communication skills to enhance patient services. The ideal candidate will be pivotal in managing performance and ensuring compliance, working closely with various teams to deliver exceptional patient experiences. Formación

  • At least 10 years related experience in the biopharma industry.

What you will do

The PSP Therapeutic area director is responsible for driving the development and implementation of the international strategy for the assigned business unit as well as for potential future line extensions indications and assets. This critical role will be responsible for working closely with Local Medical Heads and Business Units leadership to manage business performance and identify opportunities to improve performance to better serve patients.

An essential element of success is a demonstrated ability to influence without authority and successfully negotiate and collaborate cross‑functionally (e.g. marketing, market access, commercial, operations, compliance, IT, legal, regulatory, training, medical and field leadership). Reporting to the Head of Patient Support Programs this role is a high‑profile position with the opportunity to make a major impact on patients’ lives and at Alexion Astra Zeneca Rare Disease.

Responsibilities
  • Leading best‑in‑class strategy and operating model for the assigned TA including launch planning for future indications and line extensions focused on exceptional patient experience and continuous improvement
  • Partnering closely with Marketing, Market Access, Legal, Compliance, Quality, Drug Safety, Commercial Operations, IT, Training, third parties and vendors to ensure that patient support programs and messaging are effectively meeting the needs of patients
  • Collaborating with local PSP teams in their TA to drive actionable recommendations and ensure effective and compliant implementation of PSP
  • Internally benchmarking PSP performance in their TA to identify gaps and look for opportunities for innovation
  • Recommending program design innovations and leading implementation plans to senior leadership
  • Meeting with local PSP teams to create a roadmap and identify improvement and operational needs and propose effective solutions
  • Working closely with other members of PSP Team to ensure alignment with the overall strategy and drive department‑wide optimization

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field
  • At least 10 years related experience in the biopharma industry
  • Thorough understanding of PSP or patient services
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to build strong cross‑functional partnerships
  • Understanding of compliance regulations and guidance governing PSP in International
  • Launch experience and/or experience in high growth areas
  • Rare disease / high‑value biologics experience an asset
  • High level of interpersonal skills and highly adept in both verbal & written communication
  • Candidate also should have an open mind about new ways to approach PSP particularly for a company like Alexion with a focus on rare diseases
  • Fluency in English both written and oral mandatory; any other language would be an asset
