Formación

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Barcelona, serves as a key technical resource to assist in the development and design of packaging materials that meet product specifications and consumer needs. Generate new Packaging for product launches in response to a given brief, evaluate new suppliers, collaborate on supply and packaging options, and manage design-to-value projects and tasks that support project implementation. End-to-end packaging responsibility for each NPD, Business Continuity, and Cost Savings projects will sit with the Packaging Development Engineer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute NPD and EPD projects, ensuring complete alignment with brand strategy and product relevance.
  • Design and develop packaging in collaboration with Marketing, Formulation, Procurement, and Supply Chain, considering formula needs, manufacturing capabilities, lead times, MOQs, and cost optimization.
  • Conduct packaging investigations — defining preliminary BOMs, coordinating with suppliers (via GSP), estimating costs, tooling, and trial expenses, and assessing manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with Formulation and Testing Labs to ensure product‑pack compatibility and with Packaging Engineering to guarantee efficient line performance.
  • Partner with Finance and Innovation Operations to track cost estimations throughout project phases, ensuring COG and GM targets are met.
  • Support factory first runs when necessary to ensure successful industrialization.
  • Provide innovation insights to Marketing — focusing on performance, shapes, sustainability trends, and new technologies.
  • Own and maintain all packaging documentation:
  • BOMs, technical specs, supplier documentation, sustainability data, and logistics information.
  • Define quality standards for components and finished goods in collaboration with Marketing and QC.
  • Support Quality teams in issue resolution, applying technical acceptance criteria.
  • Lead Design‑to‑Value (DTV) projects to improve cost efficiency, performance, and quality.
  • Work closely with Procurement to identify and qualify new suppliers, implement packaging source changes, and support insourcing / outsourcing initiatives driven by cost or supply needs.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with industry trends, materials, and technologies, driving continuous improvement and sustainability in packaging development.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A bachelor’s degree in Packaging engineering, Industrial engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent is required.
  • Basic knowledge of packaging materials and technologies.
  • Desirable 3‑5 years of experience in Packaging development with a demonstrated track record of delivering results in a complex environment, but not necessary.
  • Fluent Spanish and English.
  • Computer proficient (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
