Formación

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in operations in freight forwarding, with at least 4 years in a managerial role.

Area of Responsibilities

The Operations Manager is responsible for increasing the profitability of the department by optimizing the delivery of solutions to the client, with the best service. S/he ensures the maintenance of existing and new clients by guaranteeing the quality of service and complying with SOPs (AEO) while managing his/her team.

Main Missions
Operations
  • Contribute to the economic performance and optimize growth and results for his / her area of responsibilities: Ensure good client relationships to keep portfolio steady and growing. Lead and animate optimization of profit margin per file by conducting an optimized purchase policy: air freight, sea freight, customs brokerage, local transportation, logistics services, etc. Ensuring that all costs are input, all files are invoiced timely to ensure a correct and timely monthly closing. Help provide quotations to the network, resolve customer complaints and liaise between suppliers and clients. Manage insurance claims with the legal department. Provide support to customs clearance. Set, apply and improve the SOP and operational processes decided together with the sales team, overseas offices/agents and support team. Supervise the data introduction in the system and ensure data integrity and the exclusive and full use of the software by operations agents. Contribute to the improvement of the products and be an active support to the sales department actions, providing them with technical advice and an adequate selection of suppliers (airlines, shipping lines, truckers, value added services providers, overseas agents), in collaboration with the IT department of the Group (France).
  • Maintain good knowledge of market developments.
  • Control that all internal financial requirements are met including monthly closure of files in accordance with prevailing standards.
Management
  • Lead, plan, coordinate and monitor activities within the department (clients’ assignment, shipment follow up, procurement, team meetings…).
  • Ensure detailed review of the operations team’s performance on a weekly, monthly and/or quarterly basis and recommend actions.
  • Appraise employees’ performance;
  • Lead the search, recruitment and induction processes of new operations agents together with HR.
  • Make sure the team performs in a fulfilling atmosphere in line with Clasquin motto «Clients, Profit & Fun».
  • Ensure that the team works according to the Group rules and working processes in efficient cooperation with overseas offices/agents and other departments.
  • Ensure a good balance between activity and resources and make necessary adjustments.
Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in operations in freight forwarding, with at least 4 years in a managerial role.
  • Overall knowledge of multimodal transportation, logistics services and supply chain.
  • Strong level of English (written and spoken) + French would be a plus.
  • Sales and customer service oriented.
  • Excellent command of IT tools especially MS Office.
  • Knowledge of Cargowise would be a strong asset.
