We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic (NDI) specializing in MH-60R & MH-60S Planned Maintenance Interval (PMI) / O-Level Maintenance & Squadron Support located Rota Spain.

This position has a collateral duty assignment of NDI Technician. In addition to performing fabrication, repair, and modification of aircraft structural components, the Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic- NDI Technician performs non-destructive inspections on aircraft, components, and assemblies using approved NDI methods to ensure structural integrity and compliance with engineering standards. This role requires reading technical drawings and blueprints, using precision tools, and ensuring all work meets structural, safety, and quality standards, as well as technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal parts, panels, and structural assemblies.
  • Repair or replace damaged or worn structural components.
  • Measure, mark, and lay out materials in accordance with specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment to cut, bend, rivet, and finish sheet metal.
  • Perform corrosion prevention, inspection, and treatment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and repair manuals.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure proper alignment, fit, and adherence to specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior personnel as needed.
  • Duties may include, but are not limited to, collateral duties as Painter, NDI or IMRL Coordinator.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 8 years’ current or previous experience performing complex helicopter electrical work on MH-60R and/or MH-60S aircraft, O-Level maintenance experience.
  • Collateral duty of performing inspections using NDI methods including ultrasonic, eddy current, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, and radiographic techniques.
    • Analyze and interpret inspection results, identifying defects and potential structural issues.
    • Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and maintenance documentation to develop inspection plans.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to lower-level NDI technicians and apprentices.
    • Maintain NDI equipment and ensure calibration and operational readiness.
    • Document inspection findings accurately and prepare detailed reports for engineering and maintenance teams.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
    • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and QA teams to recommend corrective actions and improvements.
  • Removal of fixed sheet metal and composite structures from aircraft: disassembling structural and non-structural metal and composite components. Assessing damaged parts to determine the sequence of operations necessary to affect repairs or replacements.
  • Repairs of structural parts and skin surfaces of fuselages, tail section, doors, pilot seats, tail cones, engine cowls, and fairings by straightening, reforming, or reshaping, bent, twisted or distorted portions with press brakes, bending rolls, shrinking and stretching machines, or forming blocks.
  • Cuts out and/or removing damaged parts and inserting new parts or patches. Modifying aircraft and aircraft components by incorporating airframe changes (AFC), bulletins, etc. Lay out, cut, drill, bend, form and shape sheet metal and extruded metal stock.
  • Experience with the use of standard tools of the trade and special tools, such as press brakes, metal cutting equipment, shrinking, stretching, and forming machines, hydraulic presses, punch presses, turret punches, drill presses, etc. Operated more complex hand and power machines, e.g., sliproll forming machines, box and pan breaks, rotary machines with extra forming rolls, and crimpers and beading machines. Completed operations by deburring, filing, drilling and smoothing parts by hand. Chemically treated surfaces reworked. Assessed completed assemblies to ensure compliance with technical references.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, etc.
  • Skilled in the use of a wide variety of complicated hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments, associated with the trade.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate or military equivalent (AM rating) qualification.
  • Proficiency with maintenance tracking systems (e.g., NALCOMIS, OOMA, ALIS, or equivalent).
  • Extensive knowledge of MH-60R/S systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Exceptional working knowledge of NAMP (COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2), NALCOMIS/OOMA, and ASM.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card or ROTA Base Access ID.
  • Active Secret security clearance, or the ability to obtain one, if required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and manipulate 50lbs independently when needed.
  • Ability to climb and stand on ladders when necessary.
  • Must be able to repeatedly enter and exit aircraft using stationary steps/stairs.
  • Position involves long periods of standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling on aircraft structure and around aircraft for maintenance functions.
  • Position may require use and/or exposure to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids and cleaning solvents.
  • Position is located near or in a high noise area within an aircraft hangar / flightline environment.
  • FIT for Duty Physical is required.
  • May require DOT and Respiratory Physicals.
