We are looking for talented individuals to join our Energy and Natural Resources business in London, Berlin/Frankfurt and Madrid. Responsibilities
- Evaluate climate change and energy policies, including emissions, renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Assess economic impacts—costs, benefits, and social effects—of government policies and regulations on markets, businesses, and assets.
- Design and simulate auctions, conduct competitors’ analysis, and develop pricing systems for transport infrastructure.
- Prepare expert reports on a range of economic and finance issues in litigation and international arbitration proceedings.
Research Officers and Economic Analysts at NERA will have the opportunity to:
- Apply the technical skills and knowledge gained during their graduate studies to regulated industries across multiple jurisdictions.
- Perform and develop cutting‑edge economic analysis on complex real‑life issues.
- Write research reports and prepare client presentations for senior staff and clients to inform economic decisions.
- Influence project strategy, including the preparation and presentation of oral and written submissions.
- Collaborate with in‑house experts and outside academics.
- Develop and strengthen both project and people management skills.
- Develop and deliver internal training sessions.
You will need
- To hold a BA/BSc and a Master’s or PhD in Economics with exceptional academic records. Specialisms such as microeconomics, IO, econometrics, and finance are of particular interest, but we employ strong analytic and empirical economists from any field.
- To enjoy microeconomics and quantitative research.
- To be comfortable working with Excel, Stata, R, Python, or other quantitative software platforms.
- To have strong attention to detail and think analytically and critically.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Fluency in another language is useful but not essential.
- To work effectively both individually and in teams.
