Moeve is seeking a Middle Office professional in Madrid to build and scale the risk framework for Freight and LPG desks. You will develop reporting, models, and controls from scratch, ensuring data integrity and clear communication with Front Office and IT. English fluency is essential; Spanish is a plus.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in analytics or Middle Office, a quantitative degree, and strong SQL skills to automate reporting and deliver insightful risk analytics to management.

Formación

  • 2-5 years of experience in an analytical or Middle Office role, preferably in Freight, LPG, or commodity trading.
  • Degree in engineering, mathematics, economics, finance, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to automate reporting from scratch.
  • Solid understanding of risk management methodologies and valuation models.
  • Knowledge of Freight and/or LPG markets.
  • Familiarity with an ETRM system.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is a nice-to-have.

Responsabilidades

  • Build and structure the Middle Office analytical and reporting framework for Freight and LPG desks.
  • Analyze, model, and report market exposure and risk for trading activities.
  • Assess and monitor physical and financial trades, freight positions, and related deals.
  • Analyze M2M valuations, risk positions, and P/L results, developing reporting logic.
  • Develop and maintain risk reporting/analytics using SQL and data tools for traders and management.
  • Coordinate deal checks, price validation, curve updates, and data reconciliation in the trading system.
  • Monitor timely deal capture and data integrity to ensure representativeness of transactions.
  • Design new risk reporting processes and analyze commodity exposure for desk build-out.
  • Communicate with Front Office, Operations, Back Office, and IT to align inputs and processes.
  • Work with traders to quantify and explain sources of risk and exposure.
  • Contribute to reporting of trading results/positions to senior management as the function matures.

About the business

Within this context, Trading competencies are essential to optimize the value from both legacy hydrocarbons and the future molecule flows. It is Trading's task to maximize value by growing and leveraging the platform. We are actively looking for top talent to join the Market Risk Team supporting the Freight and LPG desks, ensuring that trading activities are conducted within a robust control framework. This is a unique opportunity to play a hands-on role in building the Middle Office function for these desks from the ground up.

The responsibilities we’ll trust you with

You will:

  • Build and structure the Middle Office analytical and reporting framework for the Freight and LPG desks, establishing processes, tools, and controls from scratch as the business scales.
  • Analyze, model, and report market exposure and risk for Freight and LPG trading activities.
  • Assess and monitor physical and financial trades, freight positions, and related deals.
  • Analyze M2M valuations, risk positions, and P/L results, developing the reporting logic where none currently exists.
  • Develop and maintain risk reporting/analytics using SQL and other data tools to communicate positions, P/L, and market risk to traders and management.
  • Coordinate and review deals and prices in the trading system, performing deal checks, price validation, curve updates, and data reconciliation.
  • Monitor timely deal capture and data integrity to ensure the representativeness of transactions in the trading system.
  • Provide critical thinking around the design of new risk reporting processes and analysis of commodity exposure, given the desk's ongoing build-out.
  • Communicate effectively with Front Office, Operations, Back Office, and IT teams to align on inputs, assumptions, and evolving processes.
  • Work closely with traders to quantify and explain sources of risk and exposure in their portfolios.
  • Contribute to the reporting of trading results/positions to senior management as the function matures.
What are we looking for?

Basic Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience in an analytical or Middle Office role, ideally with exposure to Freight, LPG, or other commodity trading markets.
  • Degree in engineering, mathematics, economics, finance, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort with programming/data tools to build and automate reporting from the ground up.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management methodologies and valuation models is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Freight and/or LPG markets is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with an ETRM system is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is a nice-to-have.
