Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. seeks a Medical Scientific Liaison for Solid Tumors in Madrid, Spain to provide field-based medical support and strengthen scientific credibility for the company.

You will build trusted peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals, support internal colleagues, assist with clinical studies, and contribute to medical strategy while ensuring compliance on a 1-year contract.

Formación

Job Description

About the role

Join us as our Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) for Solid Tumors. In this role, you will provide field-based medical support in your country to help advance Takeda's goals and strengthen the company’s medical and scientific credibility.

You will serve as a field-based source of scientific and clinical expertise for external stakeholders and internal colleagues, including Sales and Market Access. You will work autonomously in the field while contributing to central Medical Affairs priorities and collaborating across a matrix organization.

Please note this is a 1 year contract for a temporary leave coverage with earliest start date November 2026.

How you will contribute

Reporting to the MSL Manager, you will build and maintain trusted, long-term peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs), opinion leaders, and other relevant external stakeholders.

• Provide accurate, balanced scientific exchange: Continuously review and critically assess scientific literature, preparing summaries when appropriate. Use your disease-area and product knowledge to respond to unsolicited HCP enquiries with accurate, non-promotional medical and technical information about licensed and unlicensed indications, in line with applicable requirements. Deliver clinical presentations and medical information as needed.
• Build stakeholder partnerships: Proactively identify and develop long-term peer-to-peer relationships with opinion leaders and other relevant stakeholders. Understand and segment stakeholder needs, then implement targeted approaches to communicate medical data effectively.
• Support internal colleagues: Act as a field-based scientific and clinical reference for Sales, Market Access, and other internal stakeholders through training and ad hoc support, aligned with Takeda project teams.
• Contribute to clinical studies: Support ongoing and future Company-Sponsored Studies when requested by Global Development Operations. Activities may include locally reviewing proposed CRO site lists, attending Global or Regional Investigator Meetings, conducting motivational site visits, and sharing site and investigator feedback with Clinical Operations. Keep relevant local functions informed of progress in site involvement in a timely manner.
• Enable research and evidence generation: Facilitate unsolicited HCP proposals for investigator-initiated sponsored research by engaging with Global External Research on IISR proposals and Medical Affairs Company Studies (MACS). Support national disease registries and real-world evidence (RWE) projects in relevant disease areas.
• Contribute to medical strategy and activities: Capture and share field insights compliantly with relevant business functions to inform medical and scientific strategy and business development. Participate in developing and implementing medical activities, such as advisory boards, medical education, and peer-to-peer training. Understand key leverage points across the patient journey.
• Maintain quality and compliance: Develop and implement an annual quality plan within your area of responsibility. Follow applicable corporate, compliance, ethical, and legal standards; uphold Patient-Trust-Reputation-Business (PTRB) principles; and demonstrate Takeda-ism values as a role model who promotes integrity and a speak-up culture. Report any adverse reaction to Pharmacovigilance as soon as you become aware of it, following internal procedures.

What you bring to Takeda

• University degree in science or pharmacy. A PhD or master's degree in biological or medical science, or a medical qualification, is desirable.
• Experience in relevant therapeutic areas and in matrix environments; pharmaceutical-industry experience is desirable.
• MSL or equivalent Medical Affairs experience, experience with clinical trials, and a solid understanding of clinical-trial data and study design are desirable.
• Experience engaging with scientific and clinical experts at all levels, both individually and in groups, is desirable.
• Experience delivering clinical-data and disease-area training to medical and non-medical colleagues is desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• In-depth knowledge of applicable GxP regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines, and national codes of practice.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to communicate complex clinical data clearly and concisely, including its statistical and clinical relevance, and to engage effectively with external stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously in the field while contributing to central Medical Affairs; manage project milestones and deliver work on time; assimilate information quickly; and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, a proactive approach to personal and team performance, and the highest ethical standards.
• Understanding of the audit process, including its design, conduct, and reporting. Familiarity with clinical-trial processes and research infrastructure is desirable.
• Strong interest in developing technical, clinical, medical, and scientific knowledge.
• Commitment to developing proficiency with role-relevant digital tools and platforms— including AI, CRM systems, portals, and Power BI—to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ability to use facts, metrics, and data to inform decisions and strategic planning, with an understanding of relevant data sources, management, and analysis.
• Adaptability to change, evolving business models, shifting priorities, and digital ways of working; a results-oriented mindset; and the ability to plan and deliver in ambiguous situations.

Base Salary Range:

€50,200.00 - €68,970.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
