Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Boat Engineer for an on-site role located at CT, ES. The engineer will design, analyze, and document marine systems, overseeing construction, modification, and repair projects while ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.

The role requires a 4+ year background in marine engineering, proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, Rhino, SOLIDWORKS), and knowledge of marine automation (HMI/PLC). International travel and visa eligibility are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in marine engineering or a related field.
• Experience using engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, SOLIDWORKS, or similar applications.
• Working knowledge of marine automation systems, including HMI and PLC control systems.
• Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research, testing, and evaluations to support the design, construction, and modification of marine vessels and equipment.
• Develop engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation for marine systems.
• Prepare technical reports, design analyses, engineering studies, and system diagnostic documentation.
• Present engineering concepts, layouts, and design recommendations to customers, management, and project stakeholders.
• Utilize engineering design software to develop and review vessel and equipment designs.
• Oversee engineering activities throughout vessel construction, modification, and repair projects.
• Supervise structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering efforts to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and milestones to ensure timely completion.
• Perform quality control inspections and acceptance testing on marine vessels, systems, and equipment.
• Investigate equipment failures and perform root cause analyses.
• Support troubleshooting of complex marine engineering systems.
• Maintain engineering documentation in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
